After Guam is bombed, the entire world is on edge. Everyone knows that it’s only a matter of time before the worst happens, even outside the United States. In Canada, Matt and his best friend Liam are trying to live a normal life in high school. But the dramas of high school life are suddenly eclipsed when Matt’s mother is abducted.

 

Having overheard his mother in her home office, Matt is the only one who knows that her disappearance may be linked to a cover-up involving the attack. As the war escalates and the search for his mother continues, Matt takes matters into his own hands as society itself begins to crumble.

Millions are homeless, people are migrating north with minimal belongings, limited food and no shelter. Resources have been destroyed or scattered, and it won't be long before there is full anarchy. Society finds themselves as refugees in their own country, with an enemy they can't see, let alone find.

While the chaos of the war starts to cripple civilization, Matt and Liam have evacuated to a remote cottage and have supplies that will last for months. But they quickly learn they can’t isolate themselves from the turmoil they thought they had left behind. Matt’s father is missing in a destroyed city. Matt is struggling with the consequences of his actions and realizes the next fight he has to overcome is an internal one. He starts to venture down a very dark path that leads to an unforgivable betrayal.

Liam is challenged as he looks back at the world that he left behind and sees what it has become. He has an overwhelming impulse to do something to help, and he soon finds himself in the middle of a battle to save humanity, in a world that is on the doorsteps of an apocalypse. As Liam tries to help, his actions put him, and those closest to him, in grave danger.

The world as they knew it no longer exists and even the closest friendships didn’t survive.

Jay Harris is missing and presumed dead. Matt is isolated and struggling against the dark thoughts in his mind. He forms a new friendship with the most dangerous man in the country, who encourages Matt to conduct horrific acts.

Liam has been recruited by the NSE, and finds himself in the middle of the operations trying to stop the Ardenti Terra who are terrorising the country. He quickly realizes how helpless he is, as he tries to protect what matters most to him.

It isn’t long before Matt and Liam cross paths again, but on opposite sides.
